Crown to Couture at Kensington Palace
Historically the hub of royal court occasions and lavish parties, Kensington Palace is currently playing host to luxurious red-carpet couture in 2023’s blockbuster exhibition, ‘Crown to Couture.’ Just as they were in Georgian England, the State Apartments of this historic landmark are alive once more with the fiercest collection of high fashion.

Featuring over 200 fascinating items, ‘Crown to Couture’ is the Palace’s largest exhibition to date. Masterminded by curator Polly Putnam, the display draws interesting parallels between the glamorous garb of the eighteenth-century royal court and the elaborate styling boasted on the modern-day red carpet.

Wise were honoured to be the set & scenery and live production partner with Historical Royal Palaces on the launch of this opulent exhibition alongside industry specialists Zafferano, Prelude Entertainment, and Pinstripes & Peonies.

Dress code for the evening was “pray, put on the best suit of clothes you ever had in your life.”

Naturally, the event was attended by a flock of fashion’s most wanted, with special guests including Henry Holland, Jonathon Van Ness, Dita Von Teese, and Boy George. Attendees were snapped in their finery on arrival with a branded step and repeat backdrop and red-carpet lighting for an indulgent VIP welcome. The party fit for royalty saw a host of celebs, industry friends, and fashionistas bringing the lavish dress code to life.

Adorned with an iconic feathered peacock, our luxe gold bar took centre stage in the Pavilion, providing a captivating focal point for the champagne-infused drinks reception. Red velvet studded food stations framed each side of the room and became a ‘Raw Couture Bar’ and ‘Crown Pudding Parlour’ serving sweet and savoury delights befitting to the grandeur of the evening.

Guests danced the night away under our sparkling chandeliers, accompanied by a live-DJ and a sequin-bedecked string quartet, slipping off periodically into the winding rooms of the Palace for a sneak peek of the exhibition.

‘Crown to Couture’ is open for public viewing from April 5th to October 29th and the State Apartments remain open for events in The King’s Drawing Room and The Cupola Room. Although we can’t relive the excitement of the opening night, Wise are looking forward to hosting many more events in and amongst the glitz and glamour of this iconic display.
